Baked Vada-Pav

INGRDIENTS:

  • Bread Dough (using 1 cup maida)
  • Garlic Chutney
  • 4 Medium boiled and mashed potatoes
  • 2 Medium finely chopped onions
  • 1 tsp Garam masala
  • 10-12 Garlic and 1 Chilli – crushed
  • 10-15 Curry leaves
  • 1-2 tsp Urad dal
  • 1 tsp Mustard seeds
  • Turmeric (Haldi) powder
  • Hing (Asafoetida)

METHOD:

For Vada stuffing–

  1. In a pan put 1-2 tbsp oil and add urad dal.
  2. Once it turns brown add mustard seeds and hing.
  3. Put curry leaves, crushed garlic-chilli, haldi powder and onion. Saute for 3-4 minutes.
  4. Add garam masala, salt as per taste and mashed potatoes.
  5. Mix well and keep it aside.

For Baked Vada Pav–

  1. Make equal balls of the bread dough.
  2. Roll a small circle with a rolling pin.
  3. Apply garlic chutney in the centre and put a scoop of Vada stuffing in it. (Please refer the video)
  4. Grease the cupcake tray with butter and put all the vada pavs in the mould
  5. Apply butter on each vada pav
  6. Keep the tray aside for 30mins (proving method)
  7. Preheat the oven at 180C and Bake for 25-30 minutes
  8. Immediately, apply butter on each vada pav or else they will become hard (Do not Skip This Step)
  9. Serve Hot
